Regent's Park is known as the 'jewel in the crown' and is by far the most manicured of the Royal Parks, with structured promenades, topiary and flowerbeds, including Queen Mary's Gardens (featuring over 12,000 roses).
The Park was a favourite with Royalty and was only opened to the public in 1835, and even at that point, only certain sections were available two days a week.
Located within a ring road (the 'Outer Circle') Regent's Park also hosts a spectacular open air theatre space, an amphitheatre-style setting which hosts shows throughout the summer season, including comedy, drama and musicals.
There is a boating lake which includes access to a waterfowl collection and 100 species of wild bird, and the ZSL London Zoo is based within the park.
Regent's Park includes Primrose Hill, and crossing over the Broadwalk Bridge by ZSL London Zoo will take you to Regent's Canal, an 8.6 mile waterway linking into the Grand Union Canal and location of Little Venice, featuring cafes and shops.
