Here are some ideas to lure you out the house.

London Zoo
From giraffe to the Giant East African snail - creatures great and small can be found here. This well-kept Zoo has such a wide variety of exhibits and habitats it's easy to see why it's one of London's most enduring attractions. See West Lowland gorillas, endangered tigers or a colony of penguins being fed at Penguin Beach. There's also a living rainforest with species including monkeys, sloth and armadillo.

Science Museum
No need to shout 'Don't touch that!'. Children are encouraged to press, push and pull all they want in the Science Museum's interactive galleries. In Launchpad they can play with an Air Canon or watch an explosive science demonstration while The Garden and Pattern Pod have multi-sensory activities for younger children.

The London Dungeon
Guided by actors in 18 live shows, you'll meet London's most infamous villains and rogues such as Henry VIII, Guy Fawkes and Jack the Ripper. One of the highlights is a visit to the Torturer who also does practical demonstrations.
Not for toddlers this one.

Harry Potter tours
If you prefer magic to the macabre, how about a Harry Potter walking or bus tour?
A three-hour mini coach tour includes many of the film locations and inspirations from all 8 films including Kings Cross Station which was used to film Platform 9 ¾.
The walking tours includes Harry Potter locations as well as London landmarks including St Paul's Cathedral and Leadenhall Market.
